Spring/Summer 2019 PM Skincare Routine

Come through sunshine! Come through springtime! It’s time to switch things up a little bit, cut back on the layering but no less focus on maintaining that glow! Let’s dive straight in!

  1. Cleansing balm – I have finally (!!!) properly cut back on using cleansing wipes and become a true convert to the cleansing balm. I use Clinique’s Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm or Aesop’s Cleansing Oil to remove my makeup. I just think it’s a lot better for my skin in the long run as I have heard that wipes are more drying on the skin and not as effective because they move the makeup around rather than removing it fully. Full disclosure – I haven’t fully cut back on the cleansing wipes as I use them to remove my makeup at the gym. I’m not a fan of working out with a full face of makeup on; it’s not a great look!
  2. Gel cleanser – I wash my face with La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Cleansing Gel and Botanical Lab Neem Leaf Gentle Face Wash. These two are new additions to my skincare arsenal but it looks like they are the real deal and will be holy grail items particularly the Neem Leaf wash. My skin feels so good afterwards, and they are not drying at all. Cleanser was never my favourite step but I will quite happily wash my face at night using either of those two.
  3. Toner – At this stage, it’s either Biologique Recherche P50V, Pixi Retinol Tonic, Botanical Lab Pumpkin & Papaya Enzyme Daily Exfoliator or when I’m feeling basic, The Ordinary’s Glycolic Acid Toner. These are all pretty potent products that do their job super well either for exfoliating or addressing anti-ageing concerns so I’m straight with them. I don’t really use a serum much at this stage now because as I said above, the products I use tone are pretty solid already. Sometimes I will use the Ordinary’s Lactic Acid 10% or Lixirskin’s Night Switch BHA/AHA 10%, both of which are fantastic products but I really don’t want to over-exfoliate my skin so I use one of them maybe once a week.
  4. Night cream, moisturiser/sleeping mask – I got this Biotherm Aquasource Night Spa as a sample with another purchase, but dude, this stuff is the real deal. Confession time, I hate the smell. Like DESPISE the smell, but the effects are incredible. My skin feels so soft and revived in the morning, I will gladly hold my nose and apply this ish every night if that’s what it gives me each morning. Other items I use for night creams are Ziaja Manuka Tree Purifying Gently Exfoliating Night Cream, Etude House Collagen Sleeping Mask and Clinique Superdefence Night Cream.
  5. Eye cream – I confess that I have been backsliding with this and I really need to get back on the wagon. I’m still using the Clinique All About Eyes when I remember.

And that is it! There’s the spring/summer PM night-time skincare routine. Click here for the morning skincare routine. Let me know in the comments if you use any of these products or if you have made any changes to your skincare routine as the seasons change. And yes, my products are in my fridge – anyone else keep their beauty products in the fridge? Tell me I’m not alone!
