I swear I don’t even know why it took me so long to write up my morning skincare routine but here we are! It’s less steps than the evening routine and the products are less targeted but still necessary. As mentioned before, I have oily/combination skin so bear this in mind when you are viewing my routine and the products in it. I’m not an expert on skincare by any means but this stuff seems to have worked so far for me so yay!

1.CLEANSE – Yes, cleansing is also the first part of my morning skincare routine. The only difference is that in the mornings, I don’t double cleanse, I just go straight to the foaming cleanser which in my case is either Clinique’s oily skin facial wash or Simple’s Moisturising Facial Wash. I splash some lukewarm water on my face (also to wake myself up) and then gently massage in the facial wash. I don’t rinse immediately but instead start my other morning routine which is brush my teeth and have a shower. I rinse off the facial wash in the shower and then I’m off on to the next step!

2. TONE – Arguably my favourite step in the routine in the mornings. I really love the toner stage. I get to use my current favourite toner – Pixi Rose Tonic – which gently moisturises my face and adds a bit of a glow to it (at least in my own opinion…probably just in my head though!). Some mornings, I use a cotton pad to apply the Rose Tonic, other mornings I just splash it on to my palms and press into my skin. Either way, I love it. I always double tone as with my evening routine and allow about 5 minutes between this step and the next step. Another worthy toner which deserves a mention is the Aesop Anti-oxidant Facial Toner, which does the dang thing. I do really this product but the Rose Tonic has a special place in my heart and skincare routine.

3. SERUM/ESSENCE – I won’t lie, this is not an everyday step and really depends on which toner I use in the step before. If I use the Aesop toner, I will almost certainly use the Aesop Facial Essence which is a fantastic product that contains niacinamide (good for brightening the skin and helps with acne too!). I actually prefer to use this serum in the evening rather than in the morning, but when I get the chance, I use it. I also use the Mizon Snail Repair Intensive Ampoule which contains snail mucin and is supposed to be good for oily/combination skin. I won’t lie, I’m not completely sure how effective it is but let’s see.

4. MOISTURISER – As with the evening, this is the step to seal in all the good work I have done on my face and this actually is a two step in one combo because I use the Clinique Daily Defence Cream which contains SPF 20 so I am doing my moisturiser and sunscreen steps in one! Sunscreen is an absolutely essential step in my skincare routine (frankly it should be in everyone’s routine period!) so this is a great way for me to get it in without worrying about layering up too much on my skin. On days I do use a separate sunscreen, I use the Benefit Dreamscreen which contains SPF 45 #Winning

5. EYE CREAM – I am genuinely quite proud of myself that I have been so faithful with my eye cream application. I am not out here trying to look 100 on my 40th birthday so the bags have got to go! I use Clinique’s All about Eyes which is from their Moisture Surge range (heart eyes!) and claims to reduce circles and puffy eyes. I need to keep at it bruh!

That’s it! As I said, it’s less steps (so less time) and also less concentrated products but no less important. If you’re wondering how long it all takes, it takes me about 20-25 minutes from start to finish (includes the shower and brushing teeth time).
