Checking In #7

Location: Aarhus, Denmark

Grace how you doing? Grace is still short. Hmmm, I’m beginning to get bored with the look. She’s not long enough to braid yet but maybe in a month or two? Who knows? Do you guys have any ideas for styling? At the moment, I’m just wearing a lot of headwraps but I need inspo please. Help! Product love: Stunna lip paint by Fenty Beauty. I’m not just saying this because I love Ri-Ri. I never really wore colour on my lips until recently. To be honest, I always felt intimidated by the red lippy look. I would see girls rock it and wish I could too, but never felt it would suit me. Then I encountered “Stunna” in Sephora and I couldn’t resist giving it a whirl. What a game changer! It literally lifts any look I am wearing. It’s so sexy and strong. I love it. You can definitely expect to see more “Stunna” looks on the blog!

Wearing: My converse trainers. Especially combining them with a long floaty dress. Oooh! Honestly I just love that type of look and I think it perfectly encapsulates that comfy chic shift in my styling that I was talking about in my last post (click HERE to read it). Feminine, but with a little edgy vibe. Food cravings: Plantain! I have been craving plantain for so long and finally, I discovered a place where I can buy plantain and African food here in Aarhus. Yeah I don’t cook, but I will now!

Listening to: Daniel Caesar’s album “Freudian”. Obviously, “Best Part” is probably the most well-known song off the album but the one that just makes me swoon is “Blessed”. That’s my wedding song right there! It’s a beautiful album that’s so easy to put on and just have in the background blessing your day as you go about it.

Looking forward to: exploring Denmark. I just came back from a mini trip to Poland (trip recap coming soon to the blog!) and I booked another pretty awesome trip but that won’t be until the final quarter of the year. So in the meantime, I am ready to explore Denmark and start discovering more and more of my new home. I’ve already got some places and events in mind (booked tickets for a festival today!), but please feel free to shout in the comments if you have any suggestions for places I could visit or things to do in Denmark. I’m also looking forward to the Danish summer and the sun showing its face. We got a glimpse a couple of weekends ago and now I want more than just that little nibble. I want the whole plate! The explorations have already begun with me exploring Aarhus – here I am, up in the rainbow walkway in the AROS Design Museum Dreading: Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Isn’t that an amazing feeling?

Currently reading: “Children of Blood and Bone” by Tomi Adeyemi. This book! An absolutely incredible read, the imagery is incredible and the storytelling…oh my days. You guys know that I truly believe that I’m really a mutant, just waiting to discover my mutant powers. So now, I’m reading this and I’m thinking…am I actually a maji? What’s my magical power? Tell me I’m not the only one here!

I can’t believe this is a debut novel, it really is a great read. Can’t wait for the next two to come out (it’s part of a trilogy). I’ve nearly finished the book and then maybe I’ll share my thoughts on it, but for the moment, I will just say…run and buy the book. Now!

How I’m doing on my goals and Forty By Forty: (click HERE to read my Forty By Forty bucketlist)

Goals from last Checking InGet back to regular blogging at least once a week. Find a place to live. Cook at least one meal a week.

I’m still not back completely to blogging at least once a week, but at least I’m back to blogging so that’s something.

I found a flat and it’s absolutely gorgeous. Pictures to follow in a post coming soon!

I have actually been cooking. I’m even supposed to be hosting a “Nigeria” food night, Lord help me! I am slowly but surely starting to invite people over for dinner…trying not to have a panic attack over that. It’s happening. The dinner party will happen…eek!

Goals for the next four months: Go to the gym twice a week (whenever possible); find a church; start Danish language classes.
