Postcards from Geneva

Geneva was definitely a surprise to me. I never felt a particular pull to visit the city; for some reason I imagined it as very flashy, blingy and plastic fantastic. Well… it can be flashy, there is a heck of a lot of bling there but it is also a stunning beautiful natural setting where you are never far from nature even being in the heart of the city. The French influence is undeniable, in the language, the food, the culture, even the windows. To be honest you would not be alone in thinking you were in an extension of France especially since there is even a separate exit at the airport for French travellers. Geneva does have its own special charm and it reeled me right in pretty much as soon as I arrived. It’s a truly cosmopolitan city – hardly anyone there is originally from Geneva. So much diversity on offer…you just need to be able to keep up! I’m working on finding my way permanently back to Geneva…I first need to win the lottery though haha!
