Sunday best: Afternoon Tea and an LWD

This summer’s hottest fashion item has definitely been the LWD. Little White Dress. Long White Dress. Linen White Dress. Pick whichever one you want, we’ve all been rocking them this summer. Gone are the days when you were scared of spillage or having a little accident. Now, we’re grown and sexy and apparently coordinated enough to brave wearing the white dress out with pride. I am all the way here for it. And I couldn’t think of a more appropriate outfit for my Afternoon Tea date with my girl Reenie (check out her YouTube vlogs and thank me later, trust!) at the Ampersand Hotel in South Kensington. Afternoon Tea is something of an institution in England, and an absolute must for every visitor. It dates back to the nineteenth century, a time when traditionally people had two meals a day – breakfast and dinner – and thus it became a way for the upper class to bridge the gap between breakfast and the evening meal. It generally consists of finger sandwiches and tartlets, scones with clotted cream and jam, and pastries and cakes. South Kensington is home to a number of London’s best museums including the Science Museum and the Natural History Museum so it was no surprise that the Ampersand Hotel offered a Science theme for their afternoon tea. We could create our own lemonade from scratch and kicked off the afternoon tea session with a dry ice intro. There were blueberry planets and chocolate astronauts and fossils – they went IN! The tea selection was very impressive and I was stuffed from the regular refills of everything. It was all so delicious and indulgent, I was a little worried I would have to loosen my belt on my dress!
