Balkan Diaries: The Big Climb

A visit to Kotor is incomplete without heading up to St John’s Fortress. Perhaps, to say it is incomplete is a bit of a stretch because it is climbing up 1350 steps to a height of 1200 metres so not for everyone. That being said, making the hike to the top is definitely worth it – for the view, for the sense of adventure and frankly, for one’s own personal achievement. Do dress appropriately, wearing the appropriate footwear (something with a good grip is essential!) and check the weather forecast (which predicted rainfall for us but we still ventured on anyway!).imageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimage
