Did you know that the Panama hat is not actually from Panama? It originates from Ecuador but was shipped first to Panama and then to onward destinations, thus gaining the name “Panama hat” denoting the place of sale rather than origin. Fun facts aside, the story of my Panama hat is that it was an unintended gift to me – it was meant for someone else who ended up not taking it so it came to me. Who doesn’t love getting gifts? Some of the best gifts are those that are completely unexpected and even unintended! #winning
